1957 ANU BRUCE HALL Curtains to Hall window

The atmosphere surrounding High Table in Bruce Hall was significantly reduced by the view of insignificant buildings seen outside which would create a distraction to any activities in Hall.

Care was taken not to make the curtain a dominant element – the vague outline of the large tree is quite sufficient to satisfy any need for a decorative focus.

The Hall furniture and the curtain were my first design projects as a newly appointed Assistant University Designer in 1957.
