1959 Dining table for Griffith

This dining table matched the chairs made by Kees Westra.

The two chairs hidden by the table (on the left) were designed by Fred Ward.

The table, in solid blackwood was rather narrow so an extra piece was inserted in the centre of the top.

The table height was designed according to the ergonomic findings of chair/table relationships from the old 2’6” (760mm) to 2’4” (710mm) but I see that blocks have been placed under the table legs. Ah well.

As with the chairs the table has survived for 56 years and is still rigid. This was the only one made to that design.
