Soon after I joined Fred Ward in the ANU Design Unit I was commissioned by Mr Macphillamy to design a letterheading for his firm.
It shows my latent interest in graphic design and my early use of Optima typeface which has followed me throughout my career. While my design career has its roots in architecture my work grew to be opportunistic in nature, showing that design is a fundamental factor in all creative areas – perhaps architecture really is “the mother of all arts” ?
