Graham? PIKE, a well-known film buff started the UFA in the very early days to show quality films at ANU. He later opened Electric Shadows as a commercial cinema in Civic – closed around 2010.

Canberra University College was an offshoot of Melbourne University, occupying the old timber huts in west Civic and it was merged with ANU around 1960 by the PM Sir Robert Menzies, renamed as School of General Studies with the ANU Research Schools becoming Institute of Advanced Studies.
