1977 DESIGN ASSOCIATES Letterhead

I started an office in Byrne’s Mill, Queanbeyan after renovating it around 1976-77. The commission to design furniture and the coats of arms sculptures for the High Court enabled me to make the creative leap from ANU to private practice.

The Mill became the centre of activity for The New Millwrights, an activity group of professionals I initiated as a response to the oil crisis of around the mid-1970s.
